Amity Lodge No 11 IGLPI Consituted: 11 Nov 2011

The number 11-11-11-11 is a lucky number so far as IGLPI is concerned. On the eleventh month , November, at the eleventh day, of the eleventh year of the year 2000; the eleventh Lodge of IGLPI was constituted in due and proper form.

The Lodge eventually satisfied the requirements to be chartered and numbered. It satisfied the primary criterion that it has initiated, passed and raised at least fifteen (15) Master Masons and other criteria specified under the IGLPI Philippine Masonic Law Book 2009, Part III, Administration of Lodges, Book I The Member Lodges, Article I Organization of a New Lodge, Section 7.

A Special Grand Assembly was convened by the Grand Master, MW Bro Cesar de Leon Go, with the presence of the Grand Lodge Officers at Pintong Bato Lodge No 9 at 3 pm and a large attendance of brethren from the Lodges in the jurisdiction of IGLPI for the primary purpose of constituting Amity Lodge No 11.

After the Lodge was constituted, an election of its officers was held. The chartered members were asked to apply for regular or plural membership by signing the newly adopted Lodge Constitution and By-Laws and pay the Lodge dues within the prescribed period and thus be eligible to vote and be voted upon.

The installation of elected and appointed lodge officers followed with MW Bro Joseph Capuyan as Installing Master, assisted by VW Bro Petronilo Bulanhagi as Master of Ceremonies, and VW Bro Teodulo Jeciel as Assistant Master of Ceremonies. Installed were the following lodge officers:

Worshipful Master - WM Arwen C Nacional, PM

Senior Warden - Bro Frederick R Masangkay

Junior Warden - Bro Adlai Jawid

Secretary - Bro William Belda

Auditor - VW Bro Rae M Jarder

Treasurer - Bro Jun Albania

I congratulate and extol the labors done by the founding charter members of Amity Lodge No 11 which mostly came from La Naval Lodge No 7 and Bagong Ilaw Lodge No 6, particularly, VW Bro Rae Jarder the First Master, VW Bro Aldo Olaguer, VW Bro Nic Bolanos, Bro Ray Valenzuela, VW Bro Bong Carranza, WBro Mark Limpin and others. They were joined by the elders MW Bro Joseph Capuyan PGM and MW Bro Nonoy Carranza Jr PGM.

The Lodge name “Amity” is very significant and meaningful for Masonry. Harmony and brotherly love will fuse them together to labor and sail the journey with IGLPI towards [TRUE] Masonry.

November 15, 2011 MW Bro Jaime V Bantolo, PGM, IGLPI.

-----------------------------------------

WBro Henry Palacio was instrumental in bringing the brethren of Saudi Arabia to dwell together in unity. Together with Kuyang Lemuel Rafanan, Kuyang Fred Base, Kuyang Jay Tayag, Kuyang Leonardo Vidal, Kuyang Jomer Palapal and few others he exerted so much effort to form a Masonic Club in this country. They were few in numbers then but he continued tirelessly to communicate with the brethren who are in and will be coming to Saudi Arabia to see his dream coming true.

Having left last June for home, Kuyang Henry and his family were to leave Philippines for Canada on October 12, 2011 for good. He was not able to see his labors for the Order bearing fruit in this middle eastern country. Now, Riyadh Travelers is existing and getting stronger with the brethren of MWGLP and Desert Light Military Lodge No. 124, MWPHGL of Oklahoma composing; and bearing witness to WBro Henry's love for Freemasonry withersoever he maybe.

Kuyang Henry the seed you have planted in Riyadh and elsewhere about KSA has now blossomed. Though I failed to meet thus in Riyadh but I am a witness of your labors for it was you who guided me to the brethren in Riyadh. It was you, thru PMYG, who gave me strong confidence so when I reach this nation, I may be with the brethren who are ready to embrace me.

Thank you so much Worshipful Sir thank you so much... farewell my brother, farewell.... the GAOTU will walk with you towards that undiscovered country where no traveler ever returned.

Tagaytay Lodge Dedication day: 4 Aug

The sun has shown to my surprise. The past days had been storms, rains and lots of rain. I lost my bet that today too will be a rainy day. My brothers have more hope and faith than what I have. For the past days, VW Bro Mayor Bambol Tolentino had been offering eggs with the Pink Sisters Convent praying for the Almighty to stop the rains on Aug 4. Indeed it stopped. I now believe in miracles. As I am editing this piece that I have written last night, the rain is pouring so hard that I believe that volume of rain today includes the rains that did not fall yesterday. The final day has come. The years of labor finally has come to a realization. The fact is, the lodge is blessed by having the mayor as a brother. I was never hoping that a lodge as wonderful as this will be erected in my lifetime. Here it is! A reality!

Without our brother Mayor doing the heavy tasks, this is close to impossibility in my lifetime. I was not expecting him, VW Bro Noel and VW Bro Greg Monreal doing and directing the works personally, with extreme dedication and on a daily basis. Such efforts cannot be compared with any other efforts done before by anybody in our lodge. I am rating it as MAGNANIMOUSLY EXCELLENT! The brothers have done their own share. Assistance in all forms were readily given without much efforts of asking. Brothers have been rendering their own share without even asking. This is Tagaytay Lodge No. 165 worth emulation. I am right in joining Freemasonry as I am trained to be as selfless as they are. Today and for always, I say with great pride that I am a Mason. To all who joined in this our 49th Anniversary, we tender our gratitude, especially to the Most Worshipful Juanito P. Abergas.

Lodge Star of Australia Fraternal: 28 May

Brethren and Ladies of LJR,

Our fraternal visit from Lodge The Star of Australia was very successful. The attendance of the Grand Master was very special not only to the newly initiated brother but also to the brother who received his 60 years certificate as a Mason. Both brethren were surprised as they never met the Grand Master before. Our EAFs and FCFs were called to form a line at the mosaic pavement and were presented to the Grand Master as he greeted them face to face. The camera men had enjoyed their photo shots and the ceremony took a little bit longer causing the ladies to worry as the night was getting late and the food were ready in the south.

After dinner, everyone especially our ladies had a chance to have photo taken with the Grand Master and his partner Judith Morrice. The formalities were completed at 11:30 pm. Everyone had enjoyed the occasion. Brethren, thank you for your attendance and support and our Lodge had shown another great strength when it comes to visitation. Well done and I congratulate you all.

On Saturday, 4 June, we have another fraternal at Lodge Sydney St. George No. 269 for their Installation. RWBro. Rey Porras will also be invested as the Senior Warden of this Lodge. The Grand Master and his partner will be there and I am asking all the brethren to support our Foundation Installing Master on their Installation. Lodge Sydney St. George is Bro. Rey’s mother lodge. Tyling will be 4:00pm; address: Ambarvale Masonic Centre, 101 Wickfield Circuit, Ambarvale 2560. Ladies invited. Dress Code: Lounge Suit with LJR tie. Car pooling is suggested to go there. Please signify your attendance for catering purposes and show your support for RWBro Rey & fraternal visitations of LJR.

Tribute to Kuya Godo Boy Senires

In the picture from left, Bro. Ed Marfori (Bagumbayan No. 4), yours truly, Kuya Boy and Bro. Gilbert Pazcoguin (Manuel Roxas No. 152).

It is now 5:00 A.M., in the land of the Ilonggas. About an hour ago, I was notified that an old habitue of the Plaridel Temple's Acacia courtyard beer bust crowd, Kuya Godo Boy Senires, age 73 (?) passed away after six months fighting off that mean reaper C.

I am still awake, putting on the finishing touches to a stained glass door panel I am making for the YMCA Iloilo Ecumenism Hall. The stained glass panel depicts the calvary scene first envisioned some 2,000 years ago. Now, with a dear friend's passing, I am adding a figure of a modern man contemplating his fate as a speck of dust travelling through a temporal world.

Kuya Boy, ATTY. GODOFREDO SENIRES, a retired court administrator in the old DOJ (before the courts came under administration of the Supreme Court) and a Freemason par excellant, touched the lives of many brethren who crossed his path. As for me, we immediately clicked off from that adage - "they work best as they best agree".

Kuya Boy is a native of Sambuan, Cebu; a fishing town along Tanon Strait facing Negros Oriental. He came to Manila seeking not only fortune but also aspiring to be a lawyer - against the wishes of his father who wanted him to study engineering. Since he was on his own, he had to work his way through his aspirations.

Somehow he found his way to the Lacson Law School run by a Mason; the late MW Bro Rene Lacson. He did odd jobs in law school to finance his studies. Kuya Boy became a lawyer. There must have been something about Brother Lacson that became the "tongue of good report" to Kuya Boy. Atty Senires also became a Mason and through the years prospered in his calling.

When I met him, we were both already in retirement and he was serving as GLP Assistant Grand Secretary. There were many things about him that were similar to my own circumstances.

YMCA was my first exposure to man's inate wish to repay humanity for his more fortunate circumstances and spread this belief to others in an organizational manner. The concept of charity, if you wish. I did not realize how committed I was to the YMCA value system until the great fire that hit Iloilo City in 1966. I was only 18 years old at that time. The fire that gutted more than half of Iloilo City's business district swirled around the YMCA compound. Together with eight other youths, we struggled the whole afternoon to save as many equipment and furniture into the open spaces. YMCA survived that fire by a seeming miracle and the lessons of that experience stayed with me.

Kuya Boy travelled through life as a lawyer alongside Masonry. His life directions were alongside those of the legendary Pinoy Masons in the likes of MW Bro Reynold Fajardo and MW Bro Reynato Puno, to name a few. Throughout his Masonic life, Kuya Boy figured prominently in the resolution of the crises that came into the Philippine jurisdiction. That Kuya Boy would spend his retirement in the service of the Craft was a logical conclusion, he found his second calling. He repaid the institution that brought meaning to his life.

When I retired, I earned enough from consultancies to finance a regular beer bust lifestyle with the brethren in Manila. Somehow, there was a seeming emptiness to all those despite the joys of fellowship. In late 2008, YMCA Iloilo was in a crisis of sorts. The elders of the Iloilo association were Masons and they offered me a job as their OIC/General Secretary. Whammo, this was it! The pay was way below my "rackets" in Manila. But like Kuya Boy, this was a chance of a second calling, a once- in-a-lifetime opportunity to be of service to the next generation. Besides, if majority of the elders were Masons how could the job be so bad. I have not regretted that decision.

Kuya Boy and myself smoked, him with cigarettes - me with "linikit" native tobacco cigars. He had this executive check up about 5 years ago and his doctor asked if Kuya Boy was bothered by smoking. Kuya Boy said no but even if it did, at age 67 (?) he could not care less. Smoking and coffee kept the both of us trim (ha! talk of rationalizing) . When I visited him the last time last March, he said he was diagnosed with CA of the bones not of the lungs from smoking. Heaven forbid but if I go his way, I think its going to be CA of the fingertips (cigar smoke is not inhaled).

I started building a fiberglass boat with the intention of keeping with our date to meet up for his birthday bash in Sambuan right after the Davao ANCOM [2011]. Last December, Kuya Boy sent me a text saying the date was off, without reasons given. I completed the hull last February before running out of funds for the powerplant. Last March I came to know of his illness.

It was not meant to be.

I don't think I can even attend his funeral. But hey, sometime when you get to visit my shop, there will be a stained glass door panel with the calvary scene. In the foreground will be a figure of a modern man tinkering with a laptop, contemplating his place in the scheme of creation. I just hope that figure will resemble Brother Godofredo Senires.

The will of God is accomplished. So Mote It Be. Amen. Grand Honors, Brethren.

VWBro Boy Senires Jr Drops Working Tools: 23 April 2011

VWBro [Atty.] Godofredo 'Boy' Senires Jr., a Past DDGM of MD NCR-E and our immediate Past Assistant Grand Secretary, dropped his working tools just past midnight. To him and his family, we owe a lot.

He was many a time our Assistant Grand Secretary and he served us well in that post. He was diligent in checking out the Minutes of the Stated Meetings of Lodges, even though his honorarium was not enough for his fare (Kawit, Cavite) and his lunch. It was for the love of Masonry.

To me, his defining moment was when he tendered his courtesy resignation to our incumbent Grand Master, as Kuya Boy was endorsed by his Lodge, Andres Bonifacio #199, for the position of Junior Grand Warden.

In the meantime, he got sick. When VWBro Gilbert Pazcoguin and I visited him at the Makati Med, he was even boasting that he would attend the ANCOM in Davao and that he already had a ticket. Some of us even dreamt that this would come through -- that he would be wheeled into the plenary hall, just so he could affirm the veracity of the Certification which he prepared after all.

The GAOTU thought otherwise. I am sure, nevertheless, that he would be there with us at the plenary hall, joining us even as we toast for Brotherly Love, Relief and TRUTH! Thus will eventually be Kuya Boy's shining moment!

Just spoke to his daughter, Gladys, who informed me that the wake starts tonight, at the St. Peters Chapels, Quezon Ave. His body will be cremated on April 30, 2011. Please pass.

Mawi Lazaro.

The MSANA will then forward all donations directly to the Grand Lodge F. & A.M. of Japan and the Grand Lodge A.F. & A.M. of New Zealand.

Please share this information with your lodge members as soon as possible. If your members, lodge, families, or friends would like to make a contribution, please make your check payable to the MSA Disaster Relief Fund and mail it to:

Did you know?

"We are all familiar with the term “Sojourning Mason”, but did you know that a formal, recognized Masonic organization named “National Sojourners” actually exists?

The group had its beginning over 90 years ago in August 1898 in the Philippines, upon the arrival there of a North Dakota Regiment of Volunteer Infantry. The Grand Lodge of North Dakota had granted this Regiment a dispensation for a field lodge and it conducted its first meeting upon its arrival.

Meetings were held regularly thereafter—once even while under hostile fire at the Culi Culi Church with the officers of the lodge wearing sidearms while bullets splattered through the roof!

Early in 1900, the North Dakota Regiment of Volunteer Infantry left the Philippines, taking with it the Field Dispensation. The American Masons who were left behind quickly filled this Masonic void by forming the first informal “Sojourners Club.” In 1901, these “Sojourners” provided the impetus, funds and paraphernalia to charter Manila Lodge under the Grand Lodge of California, and the “Sojourners Club,” was temporarily disbanded. One of the original members of the informal “Sojourners Club”, Surgeon Captain Harry Eugene Stafford, was Charter Master of Manila Lodge No. 342, Grand Lodge of California (later Manila Lodge No. I) and, in 1913, became the first Grand Master of the newlycreated Grand Lodge of the Philippines.

The Philippine “Sojourner Club” resurfaced in 1907, open to Masons who were not members of local lodges, and soon had nearly 200 members from every State and Territory of the United States and eight foreign countries. As time went by, most of the Philippine Sojourners scattered throughout the United States. A group of these Masonic military officers, meeting in Chicago, Illinois in 1917, recognized the highly transient life of Master Mason military Officers and formally organized the “Chicago Sojourners Club.” Additional Clubs quickly formed at army posts and naval bases around the nation and overseas. In 1927, the word “Club” was dropped and the National Sojourners were incor-porated in 1931 as a formal part of the Masonic Fraternity."

Maynilad Lodge, UD: 12 March

Brethren,

This is in response to the many questions of the Brethren worldwide about Maynilad Lodge. Maynilad Lodge (commonly known as Filipino Lodge) is a Lodge under dispensation beholden to the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the District of Columbia.

The Lodge is named in honor of Filipino Masons. Although the Lodge is amenable to Filipino culture, it is in conformity to the Masonic Code of the Grand Lodge. The membership is open to all Masons in Good Standing who belong to a Legally Constituted Lodge Recognized by the Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia.

Maynilad has been working under dispenstion since November 2009 and expect to be chartered on May 11th at the Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia (200th Anniversary of the Grand Lodge). We are hoping to be consecrated on June 11 (International Brotherhood Night in Washington, D.C.).

Yes, we are still accepting Petitions For Affiliation for Charter Membership. We invite you to join us in this endeavor. We need more members to show the Grand Lodge that we have enough members to ensure stability and growth. So, if you would like to join us; in this perhaps once in a lifetime opportunity to be a Charter Member of a Filipino Lodge in the Nation's Capital, we need to receive your petition as soon as possible. We will need your Certificate of Good Standing (signed and sealed) from the Secretary of your Lodge. It must show the exact dates when you were Initiated, Passed, and Raised; your completely filled out Petition for Affiliation; and your cheque for $150.00 payable to Maynilad Lodge, U.D, (If you are a Filipino Citizen whose permanent residence is the Philippines, your charter Membership Fee is $50.00). We also need a brief synopsis of you Masonic Travel (your past and present title with dates and place and other Masonic Affiliations.)

If you want to join us as a Charter Member, please email our Secretary, WBro Ken Gibala ASAP. He will send you the Petition Form. Our next meeting wil be this coming Saturday (March 12) at 1:00PM in the Scottish Rite Temple, 2800 16th Street, NW, Washington, D.C..

Our guest speakers for the night are MWBro. AKRAM ELIAS (our Lodge Member) and WBro. CURTIN WINSOR. They will be talking about the Cincinnatus Lodge No. 76 Outreach Program in Southern Pilippines which they started in 2004 in cooperation with three Lodges in the Philippines. You are all invited to attend, if within your cable tow.

Our Worshipful Master, Illustrious Bro. Ted Villapando is in the Philippines. If you would care to meet him, he will be attending the ANCOM 2011 there with other Members of Maynilad Lodge.

Thank you and May God Bless Us All,

As we become more bounded by a stronger tie; we become more connected with one's postings. Any news from the Brethren we met, good or bad, affects us, so we become more involved. Any miscommunication or misunderstanding becomes inconsequential - the beauty of PMYG eyeballs.

Agribiz Mason 2011 Updates

Brethren,

The new year 2011 started with a blast when Agribiz Mason officers & members together with other brethren flew to General Santos City last week to attend an "out of NCR meeting" of Agribiz Travellers Assn., Inc. last Friday, January 14 at the East Asia Royale Hotel.

Attached are pictures during the meeting. If you would like to see more or all of the pictures, please go to our Facebook account agribizmason@yahoo.com at facebook. Then you will also see additional pictures which  include the installation of WM Chester Tan of Dadiangas Lodge 225.

WM Chester is also a member of Agribiz Travellers Assn., Inc., and had planned with us this special event at East Asia Royale Hotel, so that we could also attend his installation as WM the next day.

We would like to give our special thanks to WM Chester and the Southern Mindanao brethren for hosting the Agribiz Mason meeting, which saw attendance of more that 40 brethren; producers and suppliers combined as well as visitors from other lodges in the area and Luzon. Food and drinks were overflowing that night.

We also congratulate newly installed WM Chester and wish him a most successful and enjoyable year in his position; knowing that he will surely bring his Lodge to greater heights.

Special thanks also to Bro. Rumbar Bartolome, Manager of East Asia Royale Hotel, for ensuring that we were taken cared of during our stay at the hotel and providing the best service during the event.

For those who were able to play golf at DOLE, special mention for the assistance by Bro. Bunny whose wife
works at Dole, Bro. Jojo Arciaga and Bro Rumbar for the transportation and equipment.

The Gensan trip was such a successful affair that we are looking forward to all the "out of NCR meetings" forthcoming; and it looks like the next one will be in Cagayan de Oro City (Northern Mindanao) to be hosted by Bros. Peter and Nieto Unabia. We will update all members on the schedule.

We invite all of the brethren members and ALL THOSE INTERESTED TO JOIN to attend our scheduled monthly NCR meeting, on Wednesday, January 19 at 6 PM at the Tang Kang Restaurant along Roces Ave., Quezon City. There are a lot of activities going on, and we do not want you to miss the fun.

Together brethren,

Manolito C. Villarica
Pinaglabanan (San Juan) Lodge 374
Quezon City
President, Agribiz Travellers Assn., Inc.

--------------------------------------

According to current president of AgriBiz Travellers Association, Bro Mano C Villarica, the three key ideals of the association are 'Fellowship, Business, Service' - which will guide us in our desire to uplift relationships among our members and other brethren, ensure our bonds in business are among the strongest in the agribusiness industry, and hopefully, in the medium to long term, be able to assist and provide charity work to all who need it; whether brethren, their families, and workers in our industry.'

'The requirements to join the Agribiz Travellers Assn., Inc. (Agribiz Mason) are simple.

You have to be involved in the agribusiness industry, or serving the needs of the industry, or planning to be one whether here or abroad; be a Mason in good standing, pay an initial membership fee of PhP 1,000.00 (we have a bank account), and keep a communication address where we can forward all minutes (complete with pictures) and forthcoming activities.

Our Secretariat is preparing the communications with all those who are intending to join from the Pinoymasons group, so that we can process these.

Our NCR (Metro Manila) meetings are on the 3rd Wednesday of the month (tomorrow, Jan. 19, we are having one at the Tang Kang Resto along Roces Ave in QC) and "out of NCR" meetings upon hosting invitations by brethren outside of NCR.

Our NCR meetings are mostly held in the Quezon City area in different restaurants/ bars. In the future, we are looking at "out of Philippines" meetings with brethren members in other countries, as many of us attend international conventions held annually relating to the agribusiness lines of businesses.

In all our meetings and fellowships, we welcome brethren who wish to attend, even if they are not members nor within the agribusiness sector, but with a cost to all attendees of PhP 300.00 each for the food and drinks to be consumed.'

Regards,

Mano Villarica, President ABTA
