"Midnight Mission" for LA Lodges

Members and friends of Torrance University Lodge No 394 and William Rhodes Hervey Lodge No 767 of Los Angeles, California volunteered last Saturday, August 1 at one of LA's "oldest continuously operating human services organizations" - The Midnight Mission.

According to an email by Bro Roger Paulino Jr:

"There are 29 volunteers including myself [Roger Paulino, Jr.], Jun Gallardo, Rodney Alzona and son, Carlos Antonio, Jr., PJ Pati and Brothers in law, William & Francis, Polar Quinto, Jojo Anguluan, Jorge Cusi, Noel & Dennis Ilao, Marvin Paez & daughter, Rex Cabado, daughter, son & niece, Ronald Singson, Rex Domingo, Marvin Mangabat, Father in law, daughter and two friends, Rufo "Stan" Estanislao (Bro. from Cavite PI) and Don Estuita (petitioner) .

"We served lunch to over 200 less fortunate individuals. We also donated some office supplies for their daily operations. This charitable institution is headed by none other than The Grand Master of Free & Accepted Masons of California, The Most Worshipful Bro Larry Adamson.

It was really indeed fun, simple and rewarding experience . I encourage everyone who participated and to all who did not make it, to join us again next year.

To all who volunteered last Saturday at The Midnight Misssion... WE SALUTE YOU!!!"

Bro Paulino further added that "all volunteers were given a tour of the facility, an overview of our programs and services and the opportunity to engage staff/participants in a question and answer period."

The Midnight Mission Statement of Purpose are as follows:

To offer a bridge to self-sufficiency for homeless people through counseling, education, training and job placement.
To make available the necessities of life to homeless people: food, shelter, clothing, personal hygiene needs, and medical care.
To offer the 12-step approach to recovery.
To serve homeless people with empathy and respect, without sermonizing.
To provide for the homeless as an independent social service agency.
